Do I need mold air testing or lab reports?
Not automatically. EPA says sampling is usually unnecessary when mold is visible, and there are no federal airborne mold limits. Testing should answer a specific question, with a plan for interpreting the result.
What to consider
An air sample captures conditions at a particular time and place. Weather, activity, and sampling methods influence results. A result alone does not prove that a house is safe, unsafe, or free of hidden mold.
Ask what decision the test will change, where samples would be taken, and who will interpret the findings. Surface sampling can sometimes assist with specific questions, including assessing cleanup effectiveness, but it is not required in every case.
The $600 assessment includes the written assessment report, not laboratory reports. Sampling and lab analysis are optional extras, only as needed, with the scope and cost agreed before proceeding.
